Max Payne 2 Screenshots
The player’s character in Max Payne 2 is Max Payne and he used to be an agent in the New York Police Departments Drug Enforcement Administration. Max is also a fugitive that was framed by B.B., another agent in the NYPD. He was framed for murdering Alex, who was also a cop and said to be Max’s best friend. This all went down in the original game in the series, Max Payne.
Max Payne 2 takes place two years after what happened in Max Payne. Max is a detective for the New York Police Department again because he's proved his innocence. He partners up with the character he met two years ago named Mona Sax. Their mission is to figure out what's going on with the conspiracies of death in Max Payne 2.
Just like in Max Payne, the player begins Max Payne 2 with one weapon. They play through the first few levels with a 9mm pistol, but as they level up they'll gather more weapons; such as shotguns, machine guns, snipers, and grenades, etc.
Another similarity between Max Payne and Max Payne 2 is that the players guided by the self-conversations spoken by Max. He’ll talk to himself about what he thinks he should do next depending on what has just happened.
The first time the player goes through Max Payne gameplay there are no options for changing the level of difficulty. Developers created the game to adjust the level of difficulty to how well the player is playing. If they're dying more than the game believes they should be it will lower the skill of the non-player characters and enemies. It will also spawn more pain killers for the player to collect around the map because that's what's used to increase Max’s health.
Once Max Payne 2 has been played through at least one time there will be more game modes available. Each game mode features a different challenge. The first game mode is Dead Man Walking and there are five versions of this gameplay. It will present the player with one of these objectives and they must complete it while there are never ending waves of enemies coming after them. The second game mode in Max Payne 2 is called New York Minute and it's all about completing missions as fast as possible.
Bullet time was a key factor in the style of the original Max Payne. The bullet time feature is an option in Max Payne 2, as it can be turned on and off. It ultimately puts the game in slow motion to give a cool effect to the combat with guns. Even though it slows it down the game still enables the player to aim their weapon in normal time.
