The storyline in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion follows the malicious plans of the cult named Mythic Dawn. The player will follow the cult as they attempt to open up the gates that lead to Oblivion. Although the developers hoped to put more emphasis on the story in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the player is able to explore the open word without worrying about the overlying objectives.
